Schools reopen for 2021

By Kefiloe Kajane

The minister of education and training, Ntlhoi Motsamai, today announced that schools will reopen in phases, starting with public secondary schools which will open between March 3 and 8.

The minister said the first group also include private schools from Early Childhood Development(ECCD), primary and high school.

Motsamai said the second batch will be primary schools and community ECCD schools, adding they will operate in shifts to avoid congestion. These are reception, grade 5,6 and 7 which will open on April 6.

The third group which will open immediately are higher education institutions and TVET colleges which are capable of enforcing Covid-19 safety measures on their own.

“The ministry will continue to supply schools with sanitizers and soaps to help protect teachers and students against Covi-19,” Motsamai said.

The minister’s announcement comes after the Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro announced relaxation of restrictions.
