Nacosec workshop closed

By Neo Kolane

The minister of local government and chieftainship, Tsuinyane Rapapa officially closed a two-day workshop organized by the National COVID-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) for the District COVID-19 Secretariats (DICOSEC) on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister, Moeketsi Majoro in his address to the nation March 21 stated that Basotho who are based in South Africa and are able to avoid coming home for Easter holidays must stay away to avoid a fresh spike in COVID-19 cases similar to the 2020 festive season.

“I take this opportunity to advise all Basotho who stay in South Africa not to come home for Easter holidays as that will be another way of protecting yourselves and your loved ones,” Majoro said.

Speaking at the workshop, Rapapa said 75 percent of people have a negative attitude towards NACOSEC, the government as well as towards the ministry of health.

Rapapa continued to say if this outbreak spreads uncontrollably during this Easter holidays, all the relevant stakeholders involved in combating the virus are all to be blamed.

He added that both the young and the old will be blamed because education is done at all stages.

“But we if we can afford to stop this outbreak and reduce the spread of this disease, we should all congratulate ourselves,” Rapapa said.

For his part, the minister of health, Semano Sekatle thanked every stakeholder who attended the workshop as well as the CEO of NACOSEC for gathering everyone in preparation for the Easter holidays, winter as well as the third wave of the virus.

The virus will not be defeated if we do not realize the importance to fight it. I do trust that the virus will be combated.
