NACOSEC visits crowded places

By Neo Kolane

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NACOSEC made rounds yesterday at places where people gather in large numbers, as a random inspection to see if people are adhering to COVID-19 regulations.

‘Malitaba Litaba visited schools in Maseru where she did supportive supervision to look if schools are adhering to WHO Covid-19 rules.

The communications specialist of NACOSEC, ‘Mateboho Mosebekoa, told theReporter that the CEO was told by the teachers at one of the schools, Kaycee School, that they were operating in full capacity because Thursday is a holiday.

Mosebekoa also stated that the CEO witnessed that there was no social distancing and that some of the masks worn by the students were either too big or too small.

Mosebekoa asserted that the problem is that both the students and the teachers know what needs to be done but they don’t want to comply with the regulations.

“NACOSEC will be paying random visits to such places with the intention to monitor compliance in schools, shops, funerals and workplaces,” Mosebekoa stated.

However, the principal secretary of basic education, Dira Khama denied earlier suggestions that Kaycee School was closed down. He said they were only enforcing compliance with Covid-19 regulations.
