IT specialist revives app

By Neo Kolane

As a means to connect food vendors and consumers, Thato Rammoko has once again revived his online food application that enables customers to order online and avoid long queues.

Available for use by dwellers of Maseru, Lunchbox – as it is called – was initially founded in 2017 but due to the delivery process it was suspended for some time.

Lunchbox is an online food ordering and delivery platform based in the capital city.

Users read menus, reviews, order and pay for food from participating restaurants using the application.

Rammoko told theReporter that the app was founded in that year when he worked at Maseru Mall. He would study the menu of the restaurants situated in the mall premises.

It dawned to him that he could form his own business through the use of the application.

The IT specialist decided to start an online food directory.

However, the Lunchbox app was launched officially on Saturday, May 29 at Kick4Life restaurant in Maseru where the first phase was introduced.

The first phase is the online food directory. And there are more than 500 plus meals on the application so far.

The 21-year old stated that this allows food vendors to market their restaurants and their food menus.

He explained that one of the requirements is production of good looking pictures of food.

He said that the second phase will be that once they have generated enough revenue they will buy motorbikes for delivery.

The plan is to extend the service to other districts where he hopes to cooperate with the vendors.

The website is ‘www.lunchboxls.com’, where one can order and place their menu.

Rammoko said that so far the delivery is done by the food vendors.

At the present he faces no competition as he is the only one who has invented the service.

He is aiming to get his business close to the famous ‘Uber Eats’, an American online food ordering and delivery platform launched by Uber in 2014 and based in San Francisco, California.
