Vodacom introduces new products

By Kefiloe Kajane

A telecommunications company Vodacom Lesotho has introduced a series of products and services for corporate social investment initiatives.

The services include all networks per second billing voice bundles, data bundles, My Vodacom App Lite, Mum and Baby, local brands concepts and the Vodacom Business SME support campaign.

According to Vodacom Lesotho managing director Mohale Ralebitso, the company’s tagline appreciates and celebrates the collective power of technology to improve lives, provide a better future and enable an inclusive and sustainable digital society.

Vodacom Lesotho executive head of customer business unit, Tṧepo Thabisi, said the company has introduced all networks calling bundles which will give customers more flexibility to call all networks in the country. He said it provides the convenience of purchasing one all network bundle package without having to incur out-of-bundle charging. He further said it will offer customers greater value as they will be billed on a per-second basis.

“This directly translates to more value in the form of call durations allocated per bundle and an increase in the voice calling bundles that can reach all Lesotho networks. On the other hand, the data bundles have been repackaged to give customers more value on their trusted data network with the broadest coverage and best quality.

“We are also today launching the My Vodacom App Lite. This is going to improve our customer’s experience with us as now they will be able to also buy bundles through the App,” he added.

It emerged that the Covid-19 crisis has demonstrated the critical role of connectivity and technology in keeping society, businesses and governments connected.

He said Vodacom was thrilled about giving Basotho the best possible tools for them to lead successful and fulfilling lives by using the network that improves their lives.

“Our Mum & Baby mobile health intervention launched today will provide our customers with maternal, neonatal and child health information designed to encourage good health practices amongst pregnant women, mothers, partners and caregivers,” he said.

Vodacom Lesotho also announced its effort to assist local businesses and musicians and Small Medium Enterprises. They will be offered the opportunity to enjoy extended publicity and reach by way of getting advertising support from the company.

Detailing the initiative, Vodacom Lesotho’s marketing and digital media officer Sekonyela Matamane, urged businesses to submit their stories on how Covid-19 affected their day-to-day operations. They will be profiled by way of video testimonies professionally shot by Basotho creative artists.

He said all the curated content will be published on Vodacom Lesotho’s wide reach platforms including social media pages and radio shows.

He said that this will run under the banner to be known as Local Brands. He said Vodacom Lesotho will enable local musicians to get a chance to win sash rewards amidst an extended dry season wherein they have not been able to make a living through live performances.

“Vodacom, through the music streaming platform, My Muze, has created a Local Top 20 Chart. It focuses on the growing consumption of local music. This platform further offers musicians an opportunity to generate revenue from their music streams. This particular model of monetizing content sets Lesotho up for a sustainable digital future across many a sector,” he said.
