Awareness competition underway

By Neo Kolane

Local company, PR and Brand Network has invited both local primary and high schools from October 7 2020 to enter a breast cancer awareness competition for breast cancer awareness month.

During the completion, it is expected that information regarding cancer will be disseminated to the public.

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a condition that has led to a fear- provoking fatality rate of 685,000 women globally in 2020 alone, with the World Health Organization (WHO) hallmarking it as the world’s second most lethal cancer.

PR and Brand Network is a fully integrated solutions provider in the entertainment, professional public relations, brand innovation and communication industries.

Its mission is to seize opportunities while harnessing resources to ensure the growth of its business and impact in the industries. The network sets the foundation for growth and perceive the old in new ways.

Account executive of PR and Brand Network in Maseru, Lineo Mpapea, said South African actress, Rami Chuene and financial coach, Tokiso Nthebe, will be engaging local primary and high schools to bring awareness to the ways in which people can get tested for and treat breast cancer, as well as the different stages of breast cancer.

Mpapea explained that the objective of the competition is to educate young people and communities at large about cancer while helping local schools improve their facilities for students.

She disclosed that the challenge is to use any medium that a school is invited to come up with in a creative way to educate the public about the early signs of breast cancer, medical examinations and the different stages of cancer.

Mpapea urged that PR and Brand Network is looking for creativity, research and gauge how much it engaged students.

“Participating schools submit their entries on October 29 and on November 3 Rami will announce the top six schools and the winners of the competition. On November 5, the top six schools will be  visited by Rami, who will be speaking about the campaign and the importance of getting checked for breast cancer early,” Mpapea revealed.

Nthebe, who is also a travel enthusiast, explained that there is still a big stigma about cancer especially breast cancer. He said he and Rami want young people to get excited to talk about the illness in the households.

Nthebe suggested that both of them are willing to build relationships with the school children as they love teaching school children about financial challenges. Now, he added, they are creating awareness about cancer.

“We want to disseminate information because the more we let children talk about it, the more we people will be aware about the prevention and treatment of the disease,” Nthebe said.

Rami Chuene is a South African actress born on July 3 1975 in a small city of Polokwane.

She is a woman of many professions who has featured in different movies and television series.

Tokiso Nthebe is a financial wellness coach and travel enthusiast in Maseru. He is a regular contributor to various print and web publications who has published journals about personal finance matters and written extensively for business publications such as Alliance Insurance’s “Leruo”.
