SLB launches Mobile Bank, Se-ea-le-methati

By Neo Kolane

In yet another groundbreaking development, Standard Lesotho Bank (SLB) launched a new mobile bank today in Maseru.

Acting head of Marketing at SLB Manyathela Kheleli explained that Se-ea-le-Methati is a mobile bank fitted on a truck to help bring banking services closer to Basotho, especially in areas where customers are far from branches.

“In keeping with its objective, the mobile branch has been named Se-ea-le-Methati or Bank on the Move,” Kheleli said.

Head of branch banking, Maleteka Moshabesha mentioned that Se-ea-le-Methati provides basic banking services including an ATM to dispense cash, two teller services and customer consultant services that are normally found inside traditional branches.

Moshabesha also said that the mobile truck will also enable the bank to accommodate the overflow at ATMs, especially during peak times and it will be used to provide services during events and other special events organized by the bank, where there is a need for physical presence for a bank.

“Most importantly, Se-ea-le-Methati has rough terrain 4×4 capabilities and this is going to give the bank an opportunity to provide services to underserved areas in remote areas throughout the country, where among others, it will facilitate the disbursement of grands for the elderly,”Moshabesha revealed.
