Boitumelo hosts fashion show

By Neo Kolane

Eighteen-year old Boitumelo Jafeta organised and staged a memorable fashion show in the Butha-Buthe district last weekend at Phokeng Guest House.

The fashion designer said that the show was dubbed Sotho Spring Style.

It was the first to be organized by the designer.

“I always wanted my work to be known and seen throughout the country. It was a success as some of the people who attended came as far as Maseru. It was really amazing.

“I organized the show with director C Jam. He is the founder of Model of Sotho Agency which has beautiful models,” the Lipilaneng-born and bred said.

Boitumelo disclosed that Model of Sotho Agency strives to promote models. They then participate in fashion shows dressed in clothing designed by her.

She added that the agency that started operating in 2019 has models from TeyaTeyaneng and Butha- Buthe.

They are aged between 18-28 years.

At the show, single-handed blazers, short and long pants made of African print and ordinary wears were displayed.

The bubbly youngster believes that fashion is her talent because she has fallen in love with it.

“I use my brain and scrutinize whether my product will be welcome among the people.

I started designing in 2017 where my attention was deeply focused on the design types. Eventually, I started sewing in 2021,” Boitumelo said.

She told theReporter in most cases fashion shows are held in Maseru. For that reason, she decided to organize the event in another district so as to expose residents there to fashion outlook.

Although she left school while only in Form B in 2019, Boitumelo embarked on realizing her hunger for fashion design. She has since never looked back.
