Interviews for High Court judges set for Monday

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will from Monday to Friday hold interviews for 18 candidates that have been shortlisted for vacant positions of judges at the High Court of Lesotho.

In October 2021, the JSC published an advertisement calling for nominations and applications to fill eight vacancies of judges of the High Court.

According to the JSC, the advertisement attracted a total of 21 candidates and at its 219th meeting on February 3, 2022 the commission considered the applications and nominations and shortlisted 18 candidates.

The interviews will be conducted by members of the JSC, Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane, Justice Polo Banyane, Attorney General Rapelang Motsieloa, Public Service, Commission chairperson Moshoeshoe Sehloho and the commission secretary ‘Mathato Sekoai. 

The shortlisted candidates are Makampong Mokhoro, Molemo Monethi, Peter Murenzi, Tŝeliso Bale, Monyake Hlabanyane, Mabatŝoaneng Hlaele, Manyathela Kolobe, ‘Mamotŝelisi Khiba, Moneuoa Kopo, Itumeleng Ralebese-Letsika, ‘Maliepollo Makhetha, Tŝeliso Mokoko, Hopolang Nathane, ‘Matankiso Nthunya, ‘Mafelile Ralebese, Thamae Thamae, Teboho Thoso and Kuili Ndebele.

Meanwhile, on Monday magistrate Palesa Rantara is expected to take an oath as an acting judge. Magistrate Rantara will join acting judges Semapo Peete and Tŝabo Matooane to preside over criminal cases at the High Court for three months.
