Local farming company, Matlama Agri-Inputs and Implements have birthed its new brand called Kasi Farm House Winery which was launched in the country on March 5 2022.
This is a holding company that provides crop production as well as fresh poultry and pork produce that is healthy for consumption.
Kasi Farm House Winery is owned by two brothers, Tṧitso and Leoma Monaheng.
The founder of the winery, Tṧitso said it all started as a farming company in 2018, and escalated to the point where him and his sibling worked with retail shops in the country two retail shops.
Tṧitso explained that during the farming business when attending forums, they met up with a person who produces wine called Mashimi Wines.
Mashimi Wines is a food and drink company.
The pair already had interest in making wine in the future and partnering with Mashimi Wines was a good tick in their books.
Kasi Farm House Winery got licensed under Mashimi Wines making it a new baby.
Kasi Farm House Winery produces Chenin Blanc which is made with green grapes. Its high acidity means it can be used to make varieties from sparkling wines to well-balanced dessert wines.
Tṧitso said because they do not have a vineyard as yet, they import the grapes from the Western Cape in South Africa.
He revealed that they do the fermentation process and pour it in the wine drums in the country in Leribe.
“We import the bottles from Ficksburg in South Africa. We however are planning to have a vineyard.
“With this product, we plan to have a wine industry which will generate employment,” Tṧitso said.
The 34-year old marketer said unlike other alcoholic beverages, wine has its own niche as it can be regarded as classy.
He said immediately after launching, they started selling the wine.
Tṧitso added that despite for not having land or grapes they were able to have their wine and sell it. He therefore advised all entrepreneurs to work despite all odds.
The owner and founder of Mashimi Wnes, Sefatsa Khabo told theReporter that his business produces and packages wine for Kasi Farm House Winery.
Khabo confirmed that indeed for Kasi Farm House Winery to trade they received the license from him.
“This is the first partnership of its kind and supporting the Farm House Winery helps our brand grow more,” Khabo said.
Some of the wines made in Lesotho are Sani wines, Mashimi Wines and the newly launched Kasi Farm House Winery.
