CBL launches  annual Money Month Campaign

By Neo Kolane

The Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL) yesterday launched the 10th annual Money Month Campaign under the theme “build your future, be smart about money” in Maseru.

Running from April 25 to April 29 2022, the Money Month Campaign is an annual public awareness campaign designed to empower the public with the necessary skills to manage their personal financial resources effectively.

The acting governor of CBL Lehlomela Mohapi encouraged people to strive to three ports of money being transaction, cash reserves or insurance and investment.

Mohapi said the three ports of money should be a necessity to everyone; individual, a business and the country at large.

Mohapi referred to cash reserve or insurance as a precautionary port of money.

He remarked about the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020, saying that rentals were due, salaries, wages and other expenses needed to be paid adding that that is where cash reserves come in handy.

“At a country level, we can have an emergency and money is needed or a bread winner loses the job or an accident happens due to natural disaster,” Mohapi said.
