Road Fund Lesotho Meets Regional Counterparts

The Road Fund Lesotho team, led by the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nkekeletse Makara, is currently attending a four day Southern Africa Focal Group Meeting hosted by the Namibia Road Fund Administration in Windhoek, Namibia from January 29, 2019 to February 01, 2019.

The meeting is convened by the African Roads Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) through its Southern Africa arm known as ASAFG (ARMFA Southern Africa Focal Group).

The purpose of the meeting is to keep abreast with developments in the funding of roads sector, and to jointly celebrate milestones as well as tackle challenges that Road Funds in the region encounter, including jointly devising possible solutions to the challenges.

At the meeting, all member countries are expected to present on the pre-determined theme for the meeting namely “Sustainable Road Infrastructure- Impact of Regional Integration and Free Trade in Africa”. The best presentation will then be selected for presentation in the ARMFA Annual General Meeting.

The ASAFG meeting is hosted twice a year and it rotates amongst members. It prepares for the Annual General Meeting where all Road Funds in Africa convene. The last ASAFG meeting was hosted by Road Fund Lesotho in August 2018.

ARMFA is a non-profit making and non-political association that was founded in the year 2003 in Libreville, Gabon. The aim is to form a platform and a network for experience and information sharing on best road maintenance practices in Africa; to discuss and find opportunities on funding options and to promote and strengthen links between members of African Road Funds.
