Ecosure marks 10th anniversary, donates to centre

By Seleoe Nonyane

Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) has celebrated the 1oth anniversary of its EcoSure Re Bolokehile product.

The product is offered under the Sasai Econet Financial Services.

As part of the celebrations, EcoSure donated food stuffs and blankets worth M30 000 to the Semonkong Children’s Centre on Tuesday this week.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Sasai Econet Financial Services general manager ‘Matikoe Letsie stated that they saw it fit to mark the anniversary by giving back to Basotho.

Letsie said beyond offering its products, ETL has realised the importance of making positive change in communities where they do business.

This initiative would not end with the donation to the centre, but the company would also be engaging in other services to improve the lives of Basotho.

“For instance, from this month of July, there is a good reward that clients will receive when they register with EcoSure,” she explained.

She therefore, urged Basotho to keep registering for the service in their numbers so that they are able to send off their loved ones with dignity when they depart.

For her part, Semonkong Children’s Centre director Rethabile Mahopolo thanked the Sasai Econet Financial Services family for the kind gesture.

Mahopolo said that the donation came at a perfect time when Lesotho is experiencing a snowy winter season.

She noted that this is not the first time that companies affiliated to Econet Telecom Lesotho group support the centre.

“If these children are not assisted by Econet’ social impact arm, HigherLife Foundation through education, it is Econet’ subsidiary Sasai Econet Financial Services. We cannot thank God enough for answering our prayers,” she said.

Mahopolo also thanked Econet customers for the donation as she is aware that they are the reason the company manages to give back to communities.

The centre currently has 24 children aged between two and 20 years.

None of the children come from the Semonkong area; they are brought by the Ministry of Gender, Youth, Sports, Arts, Culture and Social Development.

EcoSure Re Bolokehile is an insurance product launched in 2013 for ETL subscribers. It is underwritten by LNIG Hollard.

The product allows Econet subscribers to register their entire family under one funeral plan with affordable premiums.

An Econet subscriber between the ages of 18 and 70 can register as the main member and add dependants up to 70 years.

EcoSure has evolved drastically since its inception and has so far disbursed over M28 million in payouts.
