Kofi Khafetsa will tomorrow hold its second gala dinner at IFO Guest House in Maseru.
This year’s theme is: ‘Afrofuturism’.
Khofi Khafetsa is a community of young professionals, entrepreneurs and creatives impacting change in the country.
The organisation says this is a safe space where young people come together to engage in topics affecting their daily lives while sipping on some coffee and also playing games.
The gala dinner serves as an appreciation token for the continued support and success of the movement since its establishment in 2021, it adds.
Early bird tickets having been going for M130 until the end of June and M180 from July 1 2023.
Talking on the theme, Kofi Khafetsa co-founder, Litšitso Sibolla said this is a fusion of Africanism and futurism which is in line with their vision of building for the future.
He said participants can wear anything that speaks Africa and futurism, and depicting how the future should be.
Sibolla told theReporter this week that although they started just a coffee shop, they knew it was also building a conducive environment where the youth can come together to create unrestricted conversations.
After the growth of the hangout, they later moved to a bigger and more suitable space where they could host a larger group of individuals for better interactions.
Kofi Khafetsa have also expanded on their menu and now offer tea, bunny chow, scones, muffins, finger doughnuts and ginger drinks “and many more”.
They also have poetry open mic sessions from 3pm.
Sibolla said they will give awards to some their clients during the gala, adding that they chose their categories based on what is happening at the hangout.
This year clients will be nominated under four categories.
“The first category is the MVP which seeks to recognise a person within the community who embraces Kofi Khafetsa’s culture the most.
“The second category is Brand Ambassador, which rewards a person who promotes the hangout the most and helps people discover the subculture.
“The third category is Couple of the Year. Some people find love at Kofi Khafetsa therefore, we appreciate couples who meet each other at the joint,” Sibolla explained.
The last category is Sematsatsa of the Year. The award will go someone who is always on point when it comes to fashion; always clean and cares about their image.
