Lesana lists on capital market

The Maseru Securities Market (MSM) last week hosted a ceremony celebrating the official listing of Lesana Financial Services’ Medium Term Note (MTN) in Maseru.

Lesana Financial Services, a licensed micro-financier, is committed to empowering individuals and organisations through tailored financial solutions. The company has made history by pioneering the listing of the first corporate bond on the MSM, marking its official debut on the capital markets.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Lesotho, Maluke Letete, talked up the significance of the event.

He stated that Lesana’s listing represents a milestone in its financial journey and highlights its commitment to transparency, innovation, and long-term financial development in Lesotho.

“This development not only showcases Lesana’s growth and innovation but also underscores the growing maturity of Lesotho’s capital markets,” Letete said.

He added that the move could attract more local and international investors, boost market liquidity, and inspire other companies to consider corporate bonds as a viable funding option.

Speaking at the same event, Katleho Securities – CEO and listing sponsor – Leonard Nyambuya, described the listing as a historic achievement – not just for Lesana, but for the MSM as well.

“As Lesana steps into the public markets, it opens a new chapter of opportunity for its investors, partners, and stakeholders. This reflects a strong belief in the future and a commitment to transparency, accountability, and value creation,” said Nyambuya.

He stressed the importance of building a self-sustaining financial ecosystem in light of shifting global priorities and increasingly uncertain external funding sources.

“Local capital markets are a cornerstone of economic stability. They enable businesses to access funding, allow investors to diversify their portfolios, and support governments in mobilising resources for sustainable development,” he noted.

Lesana CEO Seabata Ntelo expressed gratitude for the guidance provided by the MSM team throughout the listing process – from initial preparation to the final listing steps.

He said this achievement positions Lesana to further improve and expand its services.
