Phakisi ventures into beauty industry

By Mosa Matela

After experiencing skin problems, Boithatelo Phakisi decided to take matters into her own hands by creating beauty products that are suitable for all skin types and aid in restoring consumers’ confidence in their skin.

Phakisi has always struggled with dark spots, and found that a lot of products in the market are not at all suitable for her skin type.

Most of the products did little to alleviate the issues she was facing with her skin, and this brought her to the realisation that a lot of products are not suitable for certain skin types and do not provide the desired outcome.

In her frustration and search for products that will help with her dark spots, Phakisi came across a game-changing article that was the stepping stone she needed to venture into the beauty and cosmetics industry.

“I came across an article written by a cosmetologist about certain skin problems and cosmetic ingredients and formulas suitable for each problem according to skin type.

“With the information that I gathered from the article, I was able to formulate cosmetics in small batches for personal use and was eventually able to fix my skin problems,” Phakisi recounted.

After finding this solution and receiving a desirable outcome, Phakisi decided to share her knowledge on skin care and cosmetics through her company, Aquila Cosmetics.

Aquila Cosmetics provides a variety of products that target hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and dark spots.

Phakisi’s products are effective as they use gentle ingredient that cater to a variety of skin types and she has a range of niacin-amide lotion and vitamin c spray.

On the packaging, products have a list of ingredients as well as a set of directions that allow consumers to observe and pick based on their skin types and desired results.

Due to experience and the challenges she faced, Phakisi urges all up-and-coming entrepreneurs to identify gaps in the market and create a business plan from there.

“Business is not easy, at times you lose more than you gain. Persevere and take every failure as a lesson and keep improving from those failures,” Phakisi said.

In order to ensure progression and growth, Phakisi practices discipline, focus and resilience and advises other to do the same.

“Never give up, great things require time and patience.”

Her products are available at MILCO, Sefika Conplex or you may contact her on +266 5609 3454.
