IEC embarks on constituency assessments

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will this week undertake constituency assessment visits across various districts in preparation for a forthcoming voter registration intensification programme.

The visits are intended to evaluate constituency readiness, engage with IEC staff and key stakeholders, assess operational requirements, and identify any logistical or administrative issues that may require attention ahead of the commencement of the registration exercise.

The commission said the programme forms part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring that all eligible Basotho are provided with adequate opportunities to register and fully participate in the democratic process.

In a press release dated 15 June 2026, the IEC noted that it has strengthened its operations to enhance regional oversight, improve coordination, and provide focused leadership across key electoral functions and operational areas.

The electoral body added that it remains committed to conducting transparent, credible, and inclusive processes and will provide further updates upon completion of the constituency assessment visits.
