Vodacom Lesotho yesterday donated a cheque for M300,000 to Bernadette Resource Centre for the Blind.
The donation will enable to restore full functionality at the centre and address the challenges it has faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The manager of the Vodacom Foundation, RefiloehapeSesinyi, emphasized the organisation‘s commitment to ensuring that every blind individual has access to education and inclusion.
She said her organisation is dedicated to providing quality education for blind children and recognising the numerous challenges faced by people with disabilities.
“We’re determined to ensure that no disabled child in Lesotho is denied an education on account of financial constraints,” Sesinyi noted.
On her part, Bernadette Resource Centre for the Blindprincipal, Moliehi Tamako, said: “As educators ofvisually impaired students, we encounter numerous challenges. Many of our students have multiple disabilities, and our boarding school lacks sufficient rooms to accommodate everyone.
“Additionally, there are no playgrounds, which are essential for students with disabilities to engage in physical activity.
“Most importantly, as teachers we are not compensatedadequately for the unique and vital work we do,” Tamako said.
