Touch Roots Africa marked Menstrual Hygiene Day at Berea High School on Friday, equipping learners with knowledge on menstrual health and helping break stigma surrounding menstruation.
The event, which also sought to promote dignity for girls, brought together students and teachers to discuss the importance of proper menstrual hygiene.
Organisers stressed that menstrual health education should involve everyone, noting that informed boys can help create supportive school environments and reduce discrimination and teasing.
Board member of Berea High School, ‘Mateboho Mphana encouraged the students to maintain good hygiene practices and speak openly about menstrual health issues.
Mphana said increased awareness can improve girls’ confidence, school attendance and overall well-being, while empowering boys to become advocates for dignity, respect and gender equality within their schools and communities.
