Commissioner of Police Advocate Borotho Matsoso says investigations surrounding the alleged abduction and torture of journalist and human rights activist Kananelo Boloetse cannot proceed in his absence.
Adv. Matsoso said at a press conference today that Boloetse is the only one who can shed light on what happened on Saturday night.
“There are no witnesses who have come forward with information that could lead to the arrests of his abductors and torturers,” he noted, adding that Boloetse’s mobile phone number just rings unanswered.
The police boss indicated that some parts of Boloetse’s statement require explaining, which would help their investigation, as what he had provided is insufficient to help the police to get to the bottom of the matter.
He pleaded with anyone who has information that might lead to the arrest of any suspects to come forward.
