Government remains committed to creating an enabling environment in which businesses can operate, innovate, compete and prosper.
This was revealed today by Motjoka Makara, standardsofficer in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development during the official launch of the 2026 Lesotho National Quality Awards.
Makara said the ministry will continue working with industry, academia, development partners and other stakeholders to strengthen national quality infrastructure and ensure Lesotho’s products and services are competitive and vibrant to meet international market standards.
“This is particularly important as Lesotho seeks to take advantage of opportunities presented by regional integration and continental free trade area,” he noted, adding that the ministry is launching a renewed national commitment to quality, excellence, competitiveness and sustainable economic development.
The awards will be held under the theme ‘Quality the Foundation of Competiveness and Sustainable Development’.
According to the ministry, the Lesotho National Quality Awards recognise organisations that demonstrate commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
The awards will encourage organisations to move beyond simply complying with requirements to developing a culture of excellence, it said.
