ROAD FUND REPRESENTED AT THE ARMFA ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The Road Fund Lesotho will take part in the African Roads Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) Annual General Assembly, to be hosted by the Road Fund Administration in Namibia from March 10 to 16, 2019.

The Road Fund Lesotho Team will be led by the Board Chairperson Mr. Thato Mohasoa, along with another Board Member Advocate Lineo ‘Masalome Lephatša and the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nkekeletse Makara.

The purpose of the meeting is for the Road Funds in Africa to meet and keep abreast with developments in the funding of roads sector, and for the regional representatives to report on annual progress in the regional bodies which are affiliates of ARMFA.

The Annual General Assembly will be run under theme “Sustainable Road Infrastructure- Impact of Regional Integration and Free Trade in Africa”. The same theme was debated at regional level meetings, and the discussions on the subject matter will culminate at this meeting.

To ensure a coordinated management of ARMFA, member countries have been clustered into four regional focal groups that include the West African Focal Group; the Southern African Focal Group; the Central African Focal Group and the East African Focal Group. Each of these focal groups meet regularly to discuss issues of mutual interest for their respective regions, which they later on in the year come together and share during the association’s annual conference, whose resolutions are then presented for discussion and adoption at the association’s Annual General Assembly.

ARMFA is a non-profit making and non-political association that was founded in the year 2003 in Libreville, Gabon. The aim is to form a platform and a network for experience and information sharing on best road maintenance practices in Africa; to discuss and find opportunities on funding options and to promote and strengthen links between members of African Road Funds.
The last Annual General Assembly was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in February 2018.
