Prominent businessman and clergyman Archbishop Thakadu Ramela has denied allegations that he received a multi-million maloti tender to supply top soil and fertilizer to the government.

Ramela said he had not got to a stage of signing a contract for the provision of the said products since the bid had been withdrawn due to an error in the specifications provided during the tender.

“As a professional company committed to ethical practices and clean governance, we participated in the tendering process for provision of top soil and fertizer through the ministry of agriculture  andfood security.

“Following due process, we were informed that our bid was successful. However, a few days later, we received official communication from the ministry stating that the bid had been withdrawn due to an error in the specifications provided in the tender process,” Ramela said in a recent press statement.

He also disputed allegations that they inflated prices as entirely untrue, citing that their bid adhered strictly to the requirements outlined in the tender specifications.

“Allegations that we are causing delays in the provision of fertilizer are baseless, as the tender was withdrawn before any formal agreement could be executed,” reads the statement.

Ramela’s remarks come following recent reports of irregularities in the tender process.
